Original Sunday Afternoon by Vincent Van Gogh
6 Object Idea Sketch
Draft by Me
Finished Version
The art piece I decided to recreate was A Sunday Afternoon, by Vincent van Gogh.
It is arguably one of his greatest masterpieces. Every detail was carefully planned. The work required sketches on panel, 25 drawings and three important preliminary studies. But final product was one of the greatest renaissance paintings of all time.
This project initially started off as a joke between friends. The idea of replacing the people in the orignal painting with chickens sounded hilarious. But gradually it began to take root in my mind. The chickens are on the shore of life, waiting to be taken out and eaten.
I was initially unsure on how to approach this project but I thought coloring pencils would be the best idea. Pressing hard on the cardboard gave the illusion of fresh cut grass in the picture. And also it made the water look rough. It also helped with the tree's making it look like a windy day. I'm pleased with how this turned out.
